Valentine´s Day in Mexico is one of the most popular festivities of the year. On February 14th, we can see a lot of people buying gifts, flowers and balloons .This day is very busy for almost everyone because they give something special to their love ones as a way to express their feelings. And many of them even have a romantic dinner at an expensive restaurant.
But how do people in other countries celebrate this day?
We interviewed five foreign people from different countries about it. For most of them, to people in their countries Valentine´s Day is pretty much what we have here in Mexico, although many of them have similar ideas about it, they all agreed with the fact that what really matters is Love. For this kind of people, gifts aren't actually as important as being with somebody special on that day and the whole year long. More than cards, chocolates, or flowers; phone calls, acts of affection, and time are way more meaningful than goods. They also referred Valentine´s Day as a commercial day because people just buy unnecessary things. In other words if you really want to show your affection to others , you can give a present every day with them without buying anything, but instead sharing something cute made by yourself such as: a love letter written by hand, with lot of heart drawings on the frame, or If you are not shy, you could even sing for that loved person. And this is another advice for girls: cooking a dessert could be a good option to make anybody fall in love with you.
As you can see there are many simple ways to make somebody smile and you don't really need to buy expensive gifts anyway. Above all, It isn't necessary to wait until February 14th since you have many days during the rest of the year to say that loved person “ I love you ”
So, why should we wait for Valentines day to show our love as it really is..?
