Video; On the Road
ON THE ROAD
Hey there! Here
are two really funny stories about people on the road. The first one is by Mitch
Heller while on his vacations in Europe and the second one is from Jonathan Freeland
from his cheap summer trip.

*hire
*set off
*beaming
smile

this video i was able to practice the past perfect continuous to describe some
of the main actions in the story. Such as
the police officer and the boy´s mother´s role.
I also
learned vocabulary related to the vehicle:
*engine (pronunciation)
*gear

*Stalling
*steer
*reckless
*move off

Video: A song of Freedom
A SONG OF FREEDOM
Hello everybody!
This is a really cool story about slaves back before the civil war in the United
States and how this people would find their way to freedom.
What I learned
from this reading was mostly about history, since this was a part of the
country that I really didn´t have a clue about. I also had the chance to practice
the used of “used to” and “would”. Along
with some vocabulary such as:
*reclaim
* Riverbank
Video; The Davinci code
AN EXCERPT
THE DAVINCI CODE
This is a
part of the book, and it´s quiet interesting. I really liked it. And I consider
it isn´t difficult to read and understand since I was able to infer most of the
vocabulary I didn´t know.
What I learned
while making this video was how to organize the information so that it would be
easy for me to present it without missing out details; since it is a descriptive
text and details are important. Especially when it comes to talk about a book.
Vocabulary:
*reshuffled/ruffling
*traced by
*belching
*wheezing
* idling
*flicked
* ducked
*sailing

LETTERS HOME
This is the story of a Mexican boy called Francisco. Who moved to the US looking after the American Dream. When he arrived to New York, he was living in a Hostel and shared room with 10 other men. He still owed the expenses of his trip and he had to find a job. Fortunately Francisco met a man who helped him out and he started working at a market carrying boxes at night.
The first time he wrote home, he told his uncle about it all, and mentioned he got payed everyday when he knocked off at 6am. And that he would be sending them money as soon as he could do it.
Francisco was happy for the snow since it was the first time on his life he'll see it, even though he wouldn't probably enjoy it working outdoors.
Later on, he told his uncle he could received letters at a restaurant where he used to go often, because the owner would keep them for him.
Finally he started working at that same restaurant and was happy because he would be getting free meals and a warm place to be in. He was also happy knowing his little brother was getting good notes at school, but also because Francisco himself had started playing football at a club closed to the hostel and he would be moving soon to a flat with two friends.
On the next letter to his uncle, he wrote some good news about his luck and told them how his football team had won the championship through the finals and he was contacted by talent seekers who gave him a contract to become a professional football player.
Francisco was excited about it, and told his uncle they might even see him someday on tv, and that he would not only be able to send them money but to visit them as well.

OPEN SKIES
Dear Miss White:
I’m writing to apply as a

VALENTINES DAY
Daniela Serrano & Lluvia López
Valentine´s Day in Mexico is one of the most popular festivities of the year. On February 14th, we can see a lot of people buying gifts, flowers and balloons .This day is very busy for almost everyone because they give something special to their love ones as a way to express their feelings. And many of them even have a romantic dinner at an expensive restaurant.
But how do people in other countries celebrate this day?
We interviewed five foreign people from different countries about it. For most of them, to people in their countries Valentine´s Day is pretty much what we have here in Mexico, although many of them have similar ideas about it, they all agreed with the fact that what really matters is Love. For this kind of people, gifts aren't actually as important as being with somebody special on that day and the whole year long. More than cards, chocolates, or flowers; phone calls, acts of affection, and time are way more meaningful than goods. They also referred Valentine´s Day as a commercial day because people just buy unnecessary things. In other words if you really want to show your affection to others , you can give a present every day with them without buying anything, but instead sharing something cute made by yourself such as: a love letter written by hand, with lot of heart drawings on the frame, or If you are not shy, you could even sing for that loved person. And this is another advice for girls: cooking a dessert could be a good option to make anybody fall in love with you.
As you can see there are many simple ways to make somebody smile and you don't really need to buy expensive gifts anyway. Above all, It isn't necessary to wait until February 14th since you have many days during the rest of the year to say that loved person “ I love you ”
So, why should we wait for Valentines day to show our love as it really is..?
Interviews
This guy is from Germany, his 21 years old.
At first he started talking to us in German but later he changed to English. He
seemed to be just ok with Valentine’s Day due to he mentioned he would just do
the typical things like have a dinner or buy flowers for his girlfriend.
This is a couple. He said to him Valentine’s
Day was a commercial day and he didn’t seemed to be a big Fan of it but about
spending time with the people he cares for. She seemed more ok with the idea of
giving something specially to his family.
This two ladies were friends to each
other. One of them came from England and the other from us. They had
just arrived to Puebla and they seemed to be enjoying it. They seemed to be
just ok with the idea of Valentine’s Day though they also preferred People´s
Company.

Meeting Classmates
Viridiana
Viridiana is a 19 year old girl. She told me her Mom is a secretary in a
school and her Dad is a Math teacher. They got divorced since Viridiana was 11
years old, so she and her older sister Sidney had been living with her mom ever
since. But they still keep a very closed relationship with her Dad. Who has
also taught them to be athletic people because he loves playing Basketball.
She also told me that as a child she used to make up languages out of her mind so her family would tease her about it even when she was older, wich eventually led her to like them and developed the ability to learn them easily.
She also told me that as a child she used to make up languages out of her mind so her family would tease her about it even when she was older, wich eventually led her to like them and developed the ability to learn them easily.
Her sister Sidney wasn't as good as Viridiana, so their Dad took them to an English class and Viridiana just loved it, but it was until high school when she decided she wanted to become an English teacher.
One of Viridiana´s dreams is to learn and speak French. She would also love to live in another state here in Mexico, or in another country like Canada. And she also wants to become a translator.
Giovanny
Dulce talked to me about Giovanny, He's 18 years. Dulce told me that in
his family he doesn't have a very closed relationship with his parents, as he
does with his Sister. Who is 2 years older than him.
Dulce told me that when Giovanny was younger he was also pretty arrogant. One day he tried helping out one of his classmates and this experience made him realize he could be a better person.
Later on, Giovanny was also encouraged from one of his teachers to become a teacher as well. Today, one of his Dreams is to live in Canada.
Viridiana a year later
I met Viridiana a year ago. She told me her Dad was a Math teacher and her Mom was a secretary in a School. Her parents had been divorced since she was 11 years old. She and her older sister Sidney, had been living with her Mom ever since. But they still have kept a very closed relationship with her Dad. Who had also taught them to be athletic people, due to he had always loved basquetball. She also told me that as a child she used to make up languages. Wich eventually had led her to develop the ability to learn them easily.
Viridiana´s sister Sidney wasn't as good as her, so their Dad took them to an English Class. There Viridiana found out she loved it. But it was until elementary school when she decided to become an English teacher.
Viridiana also told me at that time that her dreams were to be able to speak French, lived in another state in Mexico or another country like Canada, and to become a translator.
